Selection from "Information Disclosure: One Hundred Samples"

In Jule, 2000, Information Clearinghouse Japan published a small volume titled "Informaiton Disclosure: One Hundred Samples." The intention was to produce a broad sampling of cases in which information requesters had used local government rules to examine government files in order to gather information of importance to daily life.

The collection spans a broad range of practical topics, including construction and public works affaecting redidental areas, environmental protection and the waste disposal, city planning, education, product safety and many others. It includes the very first request filed under a prefectural ordinance in 1983 as well as requests filed as recently as 2000.
